Bookmarks for Landmarks! #3

Whoop! It’s a week later than I wanted, but I’ve reached 30,000 words.

My first week back to work was far more busy than I expected. I was bouncing from meeting to meeting, trying to prep for the first week of school and scrambling to finish up my summer classes. By the time I got home each night, I was beat. Writing just wasn’t happening. Naturally, this has made me a little nervous about meeting my goal of 10,000 words per month while working. I’m not going to change anything yet though. As always, we’ll see how it goes first and I’ll rethink my goals only if necessary.

Now it’s time to get ready for work. I’ve got a bunch of 14 year olds to meet in the morning.

  1. Understandable. I work full time (often times overtime) and it’s a struggle to keep writing. I’m working on it, though. BTW, as a fellow writer, would you be interested in introducing other wordpress readers to one of your characters?

    1. I’ve thought about doing that. The desire to share has definitely grown as I’ve gotten to know my main character better. I just didn’t know if it was a good idea or how to approach it or how much to share.

  2. Same here, I’m still on first draft. My “book” is multi-genre, so sharing one character doesn’t even begin to give away the depth of the story. I like my character, so I’m willing to share. Ultimately, I want to attract readers.
To see how it’s done take a look at the most recent entry done by Eric Baker. http://ericjohnbaker.wordpress.com/. Let me know if you’re interested. I see it as a way to introduce self to community and build potential readers, even if you just have a WIP. No pressure though, understandable if you want to pass.
